Why Kapchorwa
People drive here for the mountain. The hotel is where they sleep.
Kapchorwa sits high on the northern slope of Mount Elgon, above Sipi Falls, in some of the best coffee country in East Africa. It is cool, green and quiet — and until now it has had few places to stay that match the view.
Reberon is a small house built for that view: ten rooms, a restaurant that opens early for walkers, a hall for forty, and people who know the road.

Drawing — photographs follow when the house is finished.
Rooms
Four ways to wake up here
Every room faces the mountain or the garden. Prices are starting figures; bookings open with the calendar.

The first room, nearly
Room 201 is our sample room: tiles, paint, a window seat. We will photograph it properly when the furniture arrives, and it will replace the drawings on this site.

Plaster and screed
Walls are plastered and floors screeded. The rooms have their final shapes; you can tell which one will be the quiet one.

Solar and water
The borehole is tested and the solar panels are on the south roof. Hot water, all day, is now a plan with pipes.

Kapchorwa
What you come for
Falls, a mountain, coffee on the slope, and a road that climbs the escarpment.
In the house
Only what exists
We list what is built. Things still under construction are marked that way.
Restaurant
Breakfast from 6:30 for early walkers. Dinner until 21:30. Food from the district where we can.

- Being built
The hall
A room for forty: workshops, meetings, a small wedding. Set as you need it.

Parking
Inside the compound, lit at night, watched by the gate.

Power
Grid power with a solar and battery backup, so the lights and the showers stay on.

Water
Our own borehole and treatment. Hot water in every room, all day.

- Being built
Garden terrace
Coffee in the morning, a fire in the evening when the mountain gets cold.

We wanted a place where the first thing you see in the morning is the mountain, and the second is a good cup of coffee from it.

Before you drive
Questions people ask first
How long is the drive from Kampala?
About six to seven hours with a lunch stop in Mbale. Leave by 6:30 to miss the Jinja road traffic. See The road.
Is the road paved?
Yes, all the way to Kapchorwa town. The last kilometre to the hotel is graded murram that any car manages slowly.
How cold does it get?
Nights can fall to around 10 °C. Bring a jumper and a rain jacket in any month. The rooms have heavy blankets.
Can you arrange a transfer?
Yes — from Mbale, Kampala or Entebbe. Send your dates on WhatsApp and we will reply with a price.
Is there fuel and cash on the way?
Mbale is the last big town with several fuel stations and banks. Kapchorwa has fuel and ATMs, but fill up in Mbale to be safe.
What if I arrive late?
The gate is staffed all night. Call from Mbale so the kitchen knows to wait for you.
